The Cultural Days of Villarrica
were born in the year 1980 as initiative of the Illustrious Municipality
of Villarrica, a group of neighbors, vacationers and musicians to
create Music's Coral Festival and Instrumental, this has included
Orchestras and Soloists of first national and international level
with the years.
From 1990, the organization of this cultural
activity was carried out in combined form among the Municipality
of Villarrica, through the Department of Tourism, with other Houses
of Studies of Superior Level. At the present time an agreement of
collaboration exists with the Papal Catholic University of Chile.
Both entities carry out all the necessary administrations related
to the planning of the event, artists' selection and elaboration
of the program.
This activity has been developed and sophisticated
until reaching a grade of maturity and hierarchy that it transforms
them into an event of high connotation and convocation, this given
mainly by the quality of the invited artists, among those that the
Orchestra of Camera of the Municipal Theater, the pianist and the
Russian director count Natalia Troull and Wladimir Simkin, the Symphonic
Orchestra of the Cultural Corporation of the University of Concepción,
Santiago's Classic Orchestra, the Orchestra Camera from Chile, the
Symphonic Orchestra from Chile, the Juvenile National Symphonic
Orchestra, and the Jazzista Roberto Lecaros. On the other hand,
during the last versions it had the pianist's participation and
Swedish director, Love Dervinger and Mika Eichenholz, the Russian
violinist Evgueni Bushkov, the soprano Jeanett Kohn, the violinist
Lorena González, the violonchelista Claudio Santos and the
Russian pianist Klarika Kuusk. With the time other expressions of
the culture were included like the case of the theater with the
works "The Contrabass" of the outstanding national actor
Héctor Noguera, "Art" with Cristian Campos and
Willy Semler, "I Dream of a Night of Summer" among others.
Besides the evening concerts they are carried out noon concerts
and shops, which allow to share and to exchange experiences with
relationship to the different techniques of the exposed areas.
The cultural musical program, of the XXII
Cultural Days, included the participation of the Big Band of Jazz,
the Brazilian chiropodist, teacher Marcio Cameiro, the Choir of
Students and of Camera of the Catholic University and the special
presentation of the Orchestra of Children of Curanilahue. Simultaneously
it was developed a theater cycle, cinema and Latin American craft.

| The Night of the
Lake is an artistic and pyrotechnic show that is carried out in the
sector of the Municipal Pier, next to the lake and the Villarrica
volcano . It is an activity that attracts about of 10.000 people who
participate actively of the event The show contemplates the presentation
of musical groups of high level and it culminates with a festival
of artificial fires in a mark of spectacular natural beauty in the
month of February.

| The Yacht Challenge is the most
important nautical competition that is carried out in the Triangle
of Villarrica, Licán Ray, Pucón, and this has the participation
of a great number and variety of crafts manned by sailers of the whole
country The test that consists on the crossing of the Villarrica Lake
uniting in two days the cities of Villarrica and Pucón, has
the participation of different classes of sailing ships, such as Pirates,
Laser, Vagabonds, Catamarans, J-24 and Trailereables, Also gathering
companies of the whole country during the season is carried out other
yachts, such as the Yacht of Opening, Yacht of Summer, Yacht Alfonso
Recart, Yacht Surrounds Kiel and Yacht of Closing. All are developed
one day Saturday.
Realization
date: Saturday 8 and Sunday February 9 2003.

The
raid Interlagos is not a competitive activity, but of recreational-ecological

and allowing the participation of family groups.
In their beginning this activity began with the participation
of around 15 vehicles. In their 12° version it had the attendance
of approximately 120 vans and jeep 4wd and 60 motos.

| The Triatlón
of Villarrica is a sport event that stands out in the summer season,
and it is insert in the calendar of the Chilean Federation of Triatlón.This
event is organized by the Athletic Club Pillán and it has had
the participation of Cristián Bustos who was winning in category
Elite and Claudia Cortés. Realization
date: last Sunday of January.

| Cinema in summer was a recreational-family
activity carried out for the first time during the summery season
of the year 2000 This activity it is carried out in the sector of
the Municipal Pier, next to the lake and the Villarrica volcano .
This event is specially desing for the family in general. The cinema
contemplates the projection of a movie in giant screen, once per week,
during the whole summer.
